Drawing (Week 13)
My last picture in Drawing class. This time I tried to stick to reality, which obviously I didn't enjoy that much as my last painting. But eventually I couldn't resist painting a colorful imaginary background. All in all, I think this semester I have learnt a lot about my abilities and how to draw things I have never drew before.

Photography (Week 12) studio shoot 2
The second time we went to the studio, I already knew what to focus on. Luckily we even got more lights this time, so our pictures turned out even better than last time. It was fun to actually play with the lights, in outdoors we don't have the opportunity to grab the sun and place it on the other side. Thus we had more freedom in controlling the light. I believe the difference between the first studio photo shoot and this one is visible. The last lesson I was a bit sad that this was actually our last photo class, but indeed I had great fun and learnt a couple of new practical techniques, which I am very thankful for.

Photography ( Week 10) studio shooting 1
This class I learnt something new. I already knew about the importance of light in photography, but this day I even had the opportunity to experience it in a studio. We had our photography class in a class room which made it possible to set up artificial lights. Mr. Godsave even provided us tripods, so we can make really sharp good quality photos. We all took turns to be models for the studio pictures. Here are my best pictures:

Drawing (Week 9 - 10 - 11)
These weeks' topics were something I have never done before. The first time we met this elder lady was nothing unusual, in contrast with the following weeks when we had to draw this real living -breathing human, in nude. The first experience was shocking. But soon I found myself more relieved since we had the opportunity, not only to paint it in color, but to use our imagination, and do whatever we want to the picture. Well, I thought here is a great chance to let go of my imagination, and let my brush flow upon the paper. The main idea of my painting is that I transformed my impression of the lady into physical objects, and depicted my impressions physically on the lady's body. The rest of the picture to wit the background was influenced by the environment that surrounded me, and the theme of the umbrella. There are lots of hidden parts, which at first you wouldn't realize. To start with the main figure, there is an umbrella which symbolizes the nose and the hair, and a hole in the chest which signifies the emptiness I first thought the model has in her personality. Of course these were just impressions, since I don't know the model personally.
In the background I painted 3 easels and 2 green humanlike figures. Also a cloud with a thunder bolt, and raindrops falling upside down can be seen, which match the umbrella theme. Probably this is my favorite work from this semester, since I had the opportunity to leave the ground of reality.

Drawing (Week 7-8)
The 7th week we faced a new kind of perspective of drawing. We had to draw a hand. It was not anymore about drawing straight lines that were parallel to each other, but we had to study all the small wrinkles and tiny shades that lay on our hand. At first I didn't know how to get started, I kept on erasing and redrawing every single line, until I finally finished my work that took me about 2-3 hours. If my drawing looks crooked, that can only be because my fingers are crooked as well. :) The following week we drew a portrait of one of our classmates. So I picked Lera who, seemed to be a good model to draw. I started out pretty well, although some difficulties occurred during the details of the mouth and eyes. Everything looked good, until the point when our teacher announced that we can color the portrait, because then I got super excited that I could paint this picture, and began to mix colors very carefully. As time passed quickly, I realized almost everybody has left the drawing room, and almost started to panic, that I am not going to finish. So it was due to this fact that eventually I gained a rather pinkish color for the skin. I wasn't that satisfied with this picture, but this wasn't my last chance of proving my painting skills, so I didn't worry about it that much.

Photography (Week 6)
This was a very special day, which we have been waiting for. From the moment Mr. Godsave has announced that we are going to Szabadság square to take photos, I knew it was going to be great fun! Although I was afraid that it will be cancelled because of the rain, but Mr. Godsave has seen opportunities in the situation and not reasons for cancelling the event. This was a point when I thought how wonderful is it that art and creativity just doesn't know any boundaries. Unfortunately not too many trees have changed color, but we could still take some good rain photos and even umbrella pictures and portraits. Well at first my camera was clicking all the time, trying to catch every exciting and intresting moment, then somehow my roles concerning the camera have turned upside and down. From the handler of the camera, I shifted to the subject of the gadget. Thus I had in front of and the behind the camera experience. My classmates took pictures of me sitting on the bench, jumping with the umbrella, standing on the bridge and so on. They turned out pretty good, even though I was the model and this model was rather cold and tired. :)

Drawing (Week 4-5-6)
In these week's classes we continued to discover shapes and shades of boxes, and depicting them on the drawing sheet. But on each week we added some kind of theme to it. The 4th week Mr. Herman placed a drapery on top of the boxes which made it more difficult to see and draw the boxes. It wasn't easy to figure out where to put darker and lighter shades, at least the darkest places of my drawing was never dark or black enough in my teacher's eyes. On the 5th and 6th week we did almost the same tasks, we had to capture a still life, first in black and white then in color. The 6th week task, the still life in color, seemed much more fun to me since I love to paint, and this was our first opportunity to grab a paintbrush and palette of watercolor. Even though I never paint realistic images it was a great experience to explore realistic representation with paint.

Photography (Week 4-5)
Late September, and early October reminds me of this exciting and picturesque atmosphere of fall, which gives such pleasant feelings, and awakens the desire of advanture. It is so easy to enjoy these moments...I think this is what fall is about...MOMENTS. It is only one moment when a leaf falls down, and a nother when you jump on it to hear that crunchy, but somehow niceley sounding noise.
I also had to take a picture of a statue, so I took a picture of a frog sitting on a pot, which is probably smaller than 3 centimeters all together. I guess I managed to take a good macro picture of it since people were suprised when I told them how little the frog and the pot is in real life.
The fifth week - which is the present - we watched some videos, that showed us some "magic tricks" of how to use photoshop, and change a picture into something completely different. The video was pretty long, and very precise by showing the whole procedure, which was a bit tiring to watch...can't imagin doing the same thing with a picture... but who knows maybe one day I will be doing twice as much work on a single photo. :) I think, I'd rather take a good picture, and do less correcting on it.
This is what I learned from the last few classes. The best pictures only last for a moment in real life, but if you press that little button on your camera, this handful of technology will capture that one single moment and will turn it into an immortal piece of art.
The fourth week we checked out a webpage : http://www.digitaljournalist.org/issue0309/lm01.html
It was about photographs that have changed the world. The special thing about these pictures is that every one of them has its own unique story, full of emotions that you can almost grab just by looking at them. But there were also some images that personally just didn't tell me any kind of stories.
In the end of the lesson we got homework! We had to take photos with the title of contrast and context. Well I actually missunderstood the task, because I took pictures that had contrasting colors, while Mr. Godsave meant contrast in the meanings or symbols. The shoe, and my dog Zoey:
Next week we will be going to Szabadság square to capture some moments of fall, maybe some urban stuff too, so I hope this will give me opportunity to make some intresting photographs! :)

Drawing (Week 2-3)
It seems like we have just started college yesterday, and somewhere we forgot to notice that september is almost over. As they say when you are having fun, time passes very fast. Well, I hope, besides studying we will always have a moment to ourselves to have fun in practicum classes, such as in Drawing class. The first class, after having a hard time to find that mysteriously hidden class room, I was amased and I just couldn't believe my eyes. I asked myself and the others if we are really going to draw on those easels. It felt like I was an artist myself...painting/drawing in an art school. That day our teacher Mr. Herman, didn't give us any serious tasks to accomplish, so I drew some of my favourite patterns. My first picture looked similar to a children's drawing: I drew a fish with yellow wings and red shoes, and a bunch of other crazy looking figures.
My second piece of work was an eye, which is probably even bigger than my own head. :)
The third week, when we visited the Drawing room, for the second time, our semester really began. Our first task was to copy the two squares, that were placed on the table. To be perfectly honest, I found this task rather boring and uninteresting. Drawing straight lines, without any colours, or imagination just isn't my cup of tea. After finishing my "boxes" I didn't have the feeling of being ready, so I sneaked into the staffroom and grabbed some pastel crayons. So eventually I coloured the squares and added some curves right next to the straights.
This way I was happy for what I have created. I hope to have this kind of feeling everytime I walk out of the Drawing room!
